Tunnels beach is about a 15 min drive from the Hanalei Bay town and is a must see spot.
Hanalei Bread Company is located in the Hanalei Bay town and has the best coffee, smoothies, breakfast, bread, pastries etc. on the island. Note that it is only open 7am-noon everyday.
The Waimea Canyon State Park is located on the West side of the island (about an hour and 45 minute drive from Princeville) and is one of the best spots for hiking and lookouts. The park has trails and lookouts from which you can view the beautiful Napali ridges. The park also offer bike tours.
A boat tour is an absolute must on Kauai. The Napali coastline (the famous ridges) is inaccessible via land, so to see them you either must do a boat or helicopter tour. Boat tours leave from either the North or South shores, but the boat ride to the Napali coastline is shorter if you leave from the North side. Most tours are ~4 hours and include snacks, beverages, dolphin/whale viewing, and snorkeling. If you are a fisherman, you might alternatively consider booking a fishing excursion on which you get to fish and still view the Napali coast!
This is the famous Kauai golf course only minutes from the wedding venue. The course has some of the best views in the world. The club also has tennis and pickleball courts and equipment available to rent.
Lumaha'i Beach is our favorite beach on the island. It is a bit smaller and often less crowed than tunnels beach. It also has some rock formations that create a natural hot tub!
If you are looking for a quick bite to eat, the Hanalei Pizza shop is delicious and located in the shops of Hanalei Bay town.
This is the larger beach behind the Hanalei Bay town. It usually has more tourists than Tunnels or Lumahai, but it is a great spot to go watch some surfing!
Hiking is, of course, a must do activity in Kauai. There are many trails on the North Shore, and even more trails on the West side. Click the link below for a blog that contains a list of 15 of the best hikes in Kauai (separated by region of the island). This blog has helpful information such as distance, duration, incline, and pictures. Our bucket list for August includes the notorious Hanakapiai Falls Trail on the North Shore! *Please note that some trails require a permit to enter, which can be purchased online ahead of time. We recommend purchasing permits far in advance, as they can sometimes sell out months before (and August is a fairly busy time of year).
