Wedding Party

The people, the myths, the legends

Alyssa Ziegenhorn (she/her)

Mate of Honor

"In the beginning, I was skeptical about Ziegenhorn Kids: Season 2. But Morgan eventually won me over by being the best sister anyone could ask for, and I quickly learned I was so lucky to have her in my life. When she introduced me to Kyle she said "he's basically you, but a guy" - so naturally we got along great! Kyle has always impressed me with his knowledge of board games and his ability to keep up with all of our family craziness, and I knew he would be a perfect partner to Morgan and addition to our family after our first group trip together. I can't wait to be a part of their amazing wedding!"

Chandler Shaeffer (they/them)

Best Mate

" I met Kyle and Morgan at the exact same time when we were all getting ready to study abroad in the South Pacific. We were assigned to a three-person cooking group, which is a sure fire way to quickly learn that you either hate someone or you have the potential to be fast friends forever (thankfully it was the latter, though I still harbor a deep envy of Kyle’s onion chopping technique to this very day). I’m proud to say I’ve been third wheeling Kyle & Morgan’s relationship since the very beginning (even before the beginning) and count them both to be my very best friends in the world. I’m so stupidly excited to be Kyle’s best mate (especially since he’s also my best mate, if you want to get British-English about it) and I can’t wait to third wheel both him and Morgan for the rest of our lives."

Johnson Khor (he/him)

Officiant

"Hey there! I met Morgan one fateful afternoon on the Oakhills playground in 3rd grade thanks to the meeting of Morgan’s head and a rogue tetherball from my side of the court. Since then, we became fast friends through our love of music and thoughts that the IB program would help us graduate from college faster. Spoiler: it didn’t. However, what it did do is get us to Cal together where she met Kyle and the rest is history! It’s been an absolute pleasure getting to know Kyle and seeing their relationship deepen throughout the years. I am so excited to participate in their special day and see what this next chapter holds for them!"

Zach Ziegenhorn (he/him)

King of Hearts

"Morgan met me but I can’t remember that far back. And I met Kyle when she claimed they were just “friends” but siblings know."

Andrei Jaffe (he/him)

The Executive

"I am Morgan (and soon to be Kyle's) brother-in-law. For the better part of the last decade I have been lucky enough to be part of a board game campaign with Morgan and Kyle. They exemplify the perfect balance of order and chaos: Morgan’s chaotic good energy and boundless creativity combined with Kyle’s canny curiosity and encyclopedic knowledge of the game rules ensures that these two handily surmount (or charm) any obstacle in the game or their lives."

Jessica Diller (she/her)

The Dane

"Kyle and I met in sixth grade as fellow alto sax players in the 7th and 8th grade band. We bonded over math, music, trivia, and games like phase ten. I heard about Morgan during their initial courtship and it was a pleasure when I met her in person for Kyle’s birthday at San Diego Safari Park. Those animals were pretty cool but their coolness doesn’t compare to Kyle and Morgan’s love."

Sylvie Dobrota (she/her)

Cat Burglar

"Hello!! It was love at first sight meeting Morgan in our freshman year dorm lounge, and then our bond was cemented as roommates for junior and senior year of college eating lots of soup, quoting New Girl, and doing puzzles. Then one day Morgan got back from Moorea and this dude named Kyle came over but turns out he is pretty awesome. Now 6 years later, I’m excited to celebrate Morgan and Kyle!!"

Austin Downs (he/him)

Ace in the Hole

"Growing up as childhood neighbors, Austin and Morgan had a very strong “Will He? Oh he definitely will” relationship when it came to coming over to the Ziegenhorn house and drinking enough soda for a family of 5. Loaded up on sugar, Austin and Morgan shared great growing pains , never going through any awkward phases or choice of dating partners. The streak carried on into college where the two of them were never out of sync with non-regrettable life choices. It was at this critical juncture that the amazing ness that is Kyle entered into the fray. In the years since Austin has enjoyed getting to know Kyle whenever he came to visit Morgan and being told “Kyle isn’t here , he is at work.” Nevertheless , Morgan and Kyle have welcomed Austin into their lovely lives and can’t wait to support them on their special day. “

Erica Ferrer (she/her)

The Champion

"Hi! I’m Erica. I’m in Morgan’s cohort at Scripps, where I study… you guessed it! Marine biology. 🌊 I’ve been so lucky to get to know Morgan and Kyle, who have always been so friendly and welcoming. Also hilarious. Thus, I trust I’m in good company with you all and am very much looking forward to getting to know you! We can put on our finest outfits and looking fabulous together 🌸"

Amy Hamilton (she/her)

Drop the Mic

"Morgan and I met on the first day of 6th grade. I had just moved here, so I didn’t know anyone, untiI was matched up with Morgan for a “Get To Know Your Classmates” activity. I immediately recognized how incredibly funny, smart, and cool Morgan was, and made it my mission to be her friend. Thankfully, I was successful and even infiltrated the family circle and gained the many friends who still make up the crew of “Honorary Ziegenhorn’s” to this day. When I met Kyle, I knew I would be spending just as much time with him as with Morgan for the rest of our lives. I am so excited to celebrate their marriage with them."

Rachel Huey (she/her)

Heart-Stopper

"Morgan came into my quiet, introverted little life as a brilliant and exuberant whirlwind of humor and emotion in 4th grade and has made each following day of my life all the better for it. The Ziegenhorns are family to me and Kyle is a perfect addition to the family. I'm super excited to celebrate their love and all of the wonderful shenanigans and adventures that await them! (If you need me, I'll be the one happy crying throughout the entire day)."

Nick Huey (he/him)

Always Sunny

'Hi, my name is Nick and I'm Kyle's stunt double! I met Morgan and Kyle not long after starting to date my wife, Rachel, who correctly assessed that I’d love them both. These two are a great fusion, and I am filled with unfiltered vigor and joy whenever we spend time together. I look forward to derailing Morgan and Rachel's FaceTimes to talk about games and birds with Kyle for many years to come."

Sarah McConnell (she/her)

Brute Squad

"I met Kyle in math club when we were eleven. Over the past decade and a half we've shared books, mixtapes, and way too many jokes about the Princess Bride. From the moment Kyle introduced me to Morgan in a board game cafe, it was obvious that they were perfect for each other. I can't wait to celebrate their big day!"

Katie McGregor (she/her)

Five Stars

"I met Morgan and the Ziegenhorn crew when we were 9 to 11 years old—shortly after they moved in next door—by peeking over our shared fence trying to figure out how to become friends with these cool new neighbors. I was spotted and (somehow) successfully pivoted from fence creeper to friend. I spent many subsequent years having sleepovers at the Ziegenhorns’, filming Monty python sketches, setting up elaborate Lego recreations of Harry Potter trailers, and venturing into strange (but possibly brilliant) creative writing projects with Morgan. Nowadays I’m pleased with my positive progression from creeper to friend with Kyle too. Can’t wait to celebrate these adorable lovebirds. ❤️"

Natalie Posdaljian (she/her)

Tough-as-nails

"I met Morgan on our very first day of grad school. But before I knew who she was, I admired her amazing outfit and hair (and still admire both) form afar and made a mental note to become friends with her. Morgan and I quickly bonded, working on digital signal processing homework and writing papers about how hurricanes affect marine mammals. Once COVID hit, the group slack channel with Morgan and Vanessa is the only thing that kept me sane. I can't wait to celebrate Morgan and Kyle's love; it will undoubtedly be a beautiful weekend."

Alaina Smith (she/her)

Knows A Guy

"Howdy! My name is Alaina. I had the pleasure of being introduced to Morgan through our grad program and was immediately drawn to her aura and her sense of humor. When Morgan introduced us to Kyle, I immediately claimed that we were best friends and made it my mission to always drag Kyle out on the dance floor (against his wishes). Kyle and I just clicked right away and I am thankful he thought my ratio of cool to weird was balanced just enough to befriend. I hope one day to have a love and partnership even half as beautiful as the one between Morgan and Kyle. I am thankful and honored to be their friend and be a part of their celebration! Catch me dragging Kyle to join Morgan and I out on the dance floor all night!!!"

Danny Srole (he/él)

Mr. Manager

"It all started for me when I sought advice from a college advisor about what classes to take in my second semester and then utterly rejected every suggestion he had. So did I sign up for a physics class that was "too advanced" and that I would "absolutely regret"? Of course I did. But I wasn't worried. I wore my Bluth's Frozen Bananas shirt on the first day and was rewarded 0.025 seconds after walking through the door. A call from across the room: "Manager. We just say Manager." I'd found my lab group. I'd found my friend group. I'd found out that physics is indeed even harder when you don't take the prereqs beforehand. Some of these things have had a more enduring impact than others."

Haley Veith (she/her)

Woods Witch

"some 15 years ago??? I was adopted by the Ziegenhorns when I met Alyssa in 9th grade english (we gave a stirring performance as juliet and lady capulet where I hid my lines behind a fan). Ever since, Morgan became more than a little sister, but a dear friend, someone who always told me I looked like a million dollars, laughed at my spongebob references, and made weird seasonal dances with me before we became poetry writing buddies. We also like to cackle a lot. Apologies for your ear drums in advanceeeeeeee ❤"

Vanessa ZoBell (she/her)

Hat-Trick

"Hi my name is Vanessa and I am Morgan’s whale research lab mate! I met Morgan while in graduate school and she has been a mentor for me not only in science but in life! Kyle and I have bonded over our love of avifauna, and I never forget to send him photos of a rare sighting! I cannot wait to celebrate the love of these two incredible humans who make me laugh, keep me grounded, and feed me brownies."
