If you want to dilly and dally (one of our favorite things to do), even if there's snow on the ground everywhere else, 8th Street is the PERFECT place to walk. Not only does the snow melt mean you can walk without fear of slipping, there are so many shops to peruse and places to see. We walk 8th Street weekly, at least. You can also walk down to Centennial Park too! (Pro tip- if you stop in Cherry Republic, you can get free samples.)
Probably our most frequented stop on 8th Street, the Windmill is a cute, family-owned diner. Order what we do, you won't regret it - hashbrown omlette, sausage links, add mushroom, SAUSAGE GRAVY ON TOP (yeah, you heard that right), homemade white bread on the side (will slap your ass). The counter seat is the place to be!!
IF YOU DO ANY OF THESE, DO THIS ONE. You need a blueberry donut from Bowerman's...like right now.
The Stid kids have gifted their mom Margarita's salsa since elementary school. And let us tell you, Karen is not wrong. Their chips and salsa are delicious. "Best Mexican food in the City." Jake says confidently.
Need a coffee break? Morgan will gladly tell you that Kin is one of her favorite places to get an iced latte in the city. It's SO cute there!!
Clearbrook has been a staple in our relationship. Not only did Jake ask Morgan to be his girlfriend here, he also asked her to be his WIFE here. Clearbrook holds a special place in our hearts and is one of our favorite stops for a "fancy" dinner. We'd recommend a Tom Collins cocktail, EAT THE HOMEMADE BREAD and salad, and order either the lobster pasta (Jake's pick) or the shepherd's pie (Morgan's pick). Side note- a gloomy winter-ish day would be our favorite time to go to Clearbrook. It's warm and cozy and perfect for a chilly evening!
Need an activity?? BAM has it all! Bowling, Axe Throwing, Laser Tag, Arcade!! Jake takes students here during his project term to learn about bowling. It's definitely a Holland staple!
After coaching football games, we love to go Goog's for the best damn burgers in town and some of the best fries. Morgan's dad, Keith, has given it his seal of approval, which is the highest of praise!
