How We Met

Love at first swipe

Morgan and Jacob first met by matching on the dating app Hinge. After chatting for what seemed like forever to Morgan, Jacob finally asked her out to a coffee shop in Green Lake, Seattle. After a good long chat, a second date was planned for a walk through the arboretum on Lake Washington. Daylight ran out as they walked through the lily pads along the water that night but the sparks had just begun.

The Proposal

There could be snakes here

After receiving the blessing of Mr. Jim Laird, Jacob employed his daughter Annelise, age 9 (at the time) to keep the biggest secret ever and help plan the proposal. On Morgan's birthday May 29th, 2021, Morgan wanted to go for a morning hike with her furry Jack Russel friend Reggie in the hills behind the Laird Estate in Alamo, CA. As they were nearing the end of the hike, Annelise reminded her dad that it was probably time to "take a picture" which was code for the proposal. As Jacob nervously looked for just the right spot, he led Morgan through a field and was just about to pop the question when Morgan suddenly said "there could be snakes here!" and started running away with Reggie and Annelise. As Jacob saw his unknowing bride-to-be running away with his daughter and a dog, he savored the moment before catching up and finding the right moment to get on his knee and ask that question. Morgan was surprised and Jacob was relieved and both were ecstatic, no snake bites and all. Annelise captured the moments on her Polaroid camera- see photo gallery.
