Jake and Morgan met while attending Colorado State University. They were more of acquaintances throughout their time as undergrads, and when Jake graduated and moved to Washington, that could have been it! Luckily, Jake ended up moving back to Fort Collins a few years later. One of his best friends (Tristan!) was dating one of Morgan's best friends (Jess!) so the two started spending a lot of time together and after a while realized that they were happiest together and became a couple. Throughout the past few years, Morgan and Jake have created a beautiful life together. They turned the house they bought in 2021 into a sweet and loved home and developed close relationships with one another's families. They have traveled together by train, plane and automobile, spent time in National Parks, camped, hiked, sat up by the fire listening to music, laughed a lot, cried together and have fallen more in love with each passing day.
Jake planned a proposal that was perfect for Morgan. In Morgan's eyes, the plan was to hike 13 miles round trip to Lawn Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park. Jake was carrying his large backpacking pack and said it was full of "fishing gear" so Morgan was none the wiser to what was really inside. After making the trek up to the lake, Morgan recalls thinking how happy she was to be spending the day in nature with Jake. Little did she know what was to come just a few moments later. Jake suggested taking a self timer photo to commemorate the hike. He actually pressed the video button and ran over to Morgan's side. She put her arm out to hug him for the photo, but was confused when she didn't feel him beside her. Looking over, she saw him down on one knee. It was the happiest, easiest "yes" she's ever said. Jake took 2 glasses and a bottle of champagne out of his backpack and they celebrated with mimosas at 11,000 feet. After the proposal they hiked back down to share the happy news with their parents, siblings and friends.
We are so grateful to be able to celebrate with all of our family and friends as you send us off to England for our wedding!
