Garrett and Morgan met through Morgan‘s cousin Summer and her husband Zach. Zach and Garrett worked together in Birmingham. Zach and Summer used to joke around with Morgan about Garrett, telling her how she should date him, but little did they know it would actually end up happening. They started talking and texting every day and spending more and more time with each other. They soon realized how much they had in common and how they both made each other laugh uncontrollably. They had their first real date on March 22, 2020. Despite starting their relationship right as Covid started, they never let that get in the way. Since normal date ideas, such as the movie theaters, or bowling, were now shut down, they had to find other things to do together. They spent time at Garrett’s parents, Swann Bridge, and they spent a lot of time indoors watching movies or playing cards. They were instantly inseparable. Garrett officially asked Morgan to be his girlfriend on April 22, 2020 and the first time he told Morgan he loved her was on May 22, 2020. 🤍
Morgan and Garrett knew right off the bat that they were meant for each other. So, it was no surprise that a marriage proposal would happen soon. Almost a year and a half after they met, Garrett decided it was time to finally ask Morgan to marry him. After picking out the engagement ring and keeping it hidden at his parents, he decided that Morgan’s 23rd birthday was the day that he was finally going to get down on his knee. It wasn’t the original way that he had planned, but something about that day made him not want to wait any longer. He asked his mom to help out, and he told Morgan that they were going to take couples pictures. Here’s a little backstory on the exact location where they took the pictures: so, one day when Morgan and Garrett were riding the three wheeler, Morgan stopped and pointed out these two huge trees and started talking about how gorgeous it looked and how it would be a beautiful spot for a wedding. Fast forward, this was the exact spot that Garrett chose to have the pictures taken and to propose. As Garrett’s mom was taking the pictures, (she was really taking a video) Garrett got down on one knee and he was so nervous and excited that he couldn’t get the words out. He finally says, “Will you just say yes?” Morgan replies, “You have to actually ask me!” With a tear rolling down his cheek he asks her, “Will you please marry me?” “OF COURSE!” She answered.
Three months into our relationship I (Morgan) got a call saying my 1 year old cousin needed a home because DHR was involved. I quickly called Garrett to see how he felt about it, and with no hesitation he said for me to tell them we can take her. The next day we were parents. We had no time to prepare, and neither of us ever expected this so suddenly in our lives. At first it was challenging trying to adapt with a new relationship along with Covid starting and then becoming new parents to a one year old. It wasn’t long until Klarity became like our own. We were a little family of three and as happy as could be. From teaching her how to walk and how to talk and her learning the WHOLE song of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, we were all learning different things in our own ways. Klarity is such a joy in so many peoples lives and you hardly ever see her without a great big smile. She’s so kind and loving, but also very silly, independent, and sassy. It’s crazy how much she acts like me. She absolutely adores any and all animals, especially chickens! She loves music and dancing, and dont forget Cocomelon! She was a huge part of mine and Garrett‘s relationship and without anyone realizing, she taught them both so much. She taught them how to be parents, how to love stronger, how to be a team and work together, she even taught them how toddlers are very fast and mischievous. As much as we wanted to, we would have adopted her given the chance. Instead, after a year of taking care of her, DHR closed the case and she went back to live with her dad. Regardless, we are very thankful she was such a huge part of our lives. We love you Klarity!
