The Lord brought us together through an online dating app. We connected over a photo of Olympic National Park on Morgan's profile, a place we had both recently hiked. We had our first date at Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams in the Heights, and little did we know that a little over a year later, Derek would be purchasing a ring just a few doors down from that first date spot! As we continued to get to know each other, we were both surprised by how much we had in common and by how similar we were, despite having grown up on opposite sides of the world. Morgan grew up overseas in China and Derek in Friendswood, Texas. Fun fact: we even share the same high school mascot — go Mustangs! Derek was blown away by Morgan’s warmth, faith, and goodness, and his consistent and gentle pursuit paid off! We became "official" in January of 2025 and became engaged in January of 2026. Derek took Morgan to the butterfly center at the Houston Museum of Natural Science, and then to the McGovern Centennial Gardens across the street (it was such a beautiful day for a walk!) where he asked Morgan to marry him. Morgan, of course, said yes (and Derek has video evidence to prove it!). There have been so many fun dates, game nights with family, travels, bible studies, volunteer days and more. We cannot wait to start the next chapter of our lives together and are so excited to celebrate our love with you all very soon!
