We met on St. Patrick's Day during all the festivities in Pittsburgh. A friend of mine at the time saw him and called out "hey kid in the green sweatshirt, come over here". He joined our group and we talked and danced and felt a connection. He asked for my number and the next day he asked me on our first date. We went to the Cheesecake Factory and the conversation hasn't stopped since. We could have so easily never met or passed by each other without a thought. But luckily we had a little luck of the Irish on our side that day.
We took a trip to Ocean City, MD. While we were there Corey planned a lot of surprises the whole weekend. On Saturday he surprised me with a ride in an open cockpit plane (which if you know Corey is a big deal because he doesn't like heights) that took us over the ocean and over Assateague Island. Later that night Corey packed a bag and we planned to watch the sunset on Asateague Island. If you don't know the area, Assateague Island is an island right off the coast where wild horses roam free. We walked down the beach to a sweet, remote sand dune and he took out a blanket, candles, music, and a bottle of wine. We watched the sunset and later on moved our set up down next to the ocean. We laid under the stars listening to the waves and a sweet, romantic playlist Corey had made. He asked me to dance and in the middle of a song got down on one knee with a ring. We spent some more time down by the ocean soaking up the stars and the sounds and the feeling of being in our own paradise.
