We met for the first time the Fall of 2015 at a Fraternity/Sorority event. A few months later we ran into each other again through mutual friends at a local restaurant in Statesboro, GA. We met for the third time in January 2016 during a night at Dingus Magee's with friends where Cameron proceeded to introduce himself (again). They always say third time is the charm, right? A few days later he asked me to dinner, which so happened to be my favorite, Mexican! If you know me, you know I almost chickened out but a little help from my sorority sisters, I went! From date nights and formals, intramural games and late night study sessions in Hendy, we quickly became inseparable.
Mexico.. My favorite place on this earth to visit quickly became more than just a family vacation for us. It was the holidays, people were getting engaged left and right, I could only dream of getting engaged on the beaches of Mexico..so naturally I was dropping hints. It was the day after Christmas, It seemed like a normal day. We got up, made breakfast and hit the beach. Janie wanted to make family pictures, but I had a one track mind to get us to this AMAZING Italian restaurant for dinner. (Yes, one of the best Italian restaurants you will eat is in Mexico) So I was pushy. After a few pictures I was done. But that was not going to cut it because everyone else was holding the secret I had been waiting on. We took couple pictures and Cameron and I were scooted over to a private area. Clearly I was only focused on dinner..I missed the ring in the pocket book through customs, the exchange on the beach and the "it's time" look. My sassy self made my way and as I turned around Cameron was on one knee, pictures were snapping, beach lovers were clapping and I am 99% sure I forgot to say yes until minutes later. We spent the evening celebrating and face-timing loved ones. It was a perfect night and a fond memory we will keep with us forever. Upon arrival back in the states the following weekend, there was one more surprise in store. I had a hair appointment early that Saturday morning, with plans to meet some girlfriends after. When I got back to our house I learned Cameron and our closest friends had been planning a surprise engagement party for weeks. It was a week full of surprises and full hearts.
