UPDATE: After much consideration, we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel our wedding. With the current pandemic situation worsening, we feel it is the only option to keep everyone safe during these times. We will have a private intimate ceremony with just our immediate family and next year we will have a big celebration when everyone can come together. Thank you to all of our family and friends who have stuck by us in this difficult time of postponement and uncertainty. We love you all and can’t wait to celebrate next year!
Be it sheer luck or the work of fate, we both happened to be in Pearlz Oyster Bar in downtown Columbia, SC at the same time. We met, started talking, and the rest is history. One year later, for our first anniversary together, we went back to Pearlz to celebrate where it all started.
After dating for three and a half years, Brooks finally decided it was time to pop the question. It was Memorial Day weekend as well as my birthday (could there have been a more perfect time?) We'd spent the entire day at the beach and the pool, making wonderful memories - little did I know the best one had yet to come! We planned to take dinner down to the beach and enjoy a picnic on the decking. Brooks said he wanted to go get some pictures by the railing. We get to the top of the steps when brooks asks, "Do you want to go down on the beach?" and I said, "No, that would be more for an engagement," to which brooks answered, "...well what if that's happening now?" When I turned around, he was on one knee proposing. He nailed it.
