Almost twice the size of Central Park, Forest Park is a true urban park masterpiece and arguably the best thing in St. Louis. As the site of the 1904 World's Fair, the park houses many historical buildings and statues. You can take a walk along one of the beautiful trails, play golf/tennis, visit the excellent Art Museum, Missouri History Museum, or St. Louis Zoo (all free), or take a paddle from the Boathouse. The possibilities are endless.
Forever changing with the seasons, The Missouri Botanical Garden was named the best in the country by a number of outlets including the Travel Channel (and by us). If you stop by make sure you make time to feed the koi at the Japanese garden.
Originally the home of Ulysses S. Grant, the property was purchased by the Busch family (of beer fame) in 1903 and converted to a wildlife refuge and family estate. Enjoy animal sighting (including the famed clydesdales) and beer tasting. Continue the beer tasting with a tour of the Anheuser-Busch Brewery downtown.
