We met on Hinge in 2019. Amy saw Morgan’s smile and she was sold. They met for coffee a few days later, closing the place down with a cappuccino (Morgan), cold brew (Amy), and a split chocolate chip cookie. Morgan and Amy immediately connected over growing up Catholic, their love for their families, books, and future aspirations. They moved slowly, at first, almost breaking up when Morgan told Amy she’d be moving to Portland, Oregon for JVC. Amy didn’t know what to do—she was infatuated with Morgan, but didn’t know how she felt about long distance. She decided to give it a shot. We had an incredible summer, falling in love over drag brunches and family camping trips. After a whirlwind summer full of adventures, and Morgan flew to Portland and they began their long distance love affair. Fast forward to March 2020. Amy was visiting Morgan in Portland for spring break when the news of COVID-19’s landfall in the US broke. Luckily both Amy and Morgan were able to make it back to Michigan and begin a quarantine cluster with each other and their families. They celebrated their first anniversary and Amy’s graduation from Aquinas. Taylor Swift also released Folklore, making for a fantastic summer despite the pandemic. By October, the girls decided to take the next step and move in together. Many U-Haul jokes were made, despite the distinct lack of a U-Haul (shout out to Andy, Rick, Tammy, Lauren, Basil, Mike, & Mindy). Morgan and Amy enjoyed living together—going on adventures every weekend, trying new takeout restaurants and recipes, and settling in to their shared life. Despite the trials and tribulations of the pandemic, the 2020 election, and learning that Amy can’t cook to save her life, they thrived in their home. They loved their life so much they wanted to share it with another furry friend. So in May 2021, Morgan and Amy began discussing adopting a dog together. They made two discoveries: their rent was going up, and having a puppy in a third floor walk up apartment would be challenging. So the ladies set off on a home buying adventure. Touring houses over Memorial Day weekend, they stumbled upon their dream home—tucked away on a quiet street, the 1926 American Foursquare featured original hardwood floors, a (mostly) fenced backyard, and a claw foot tub. They were in love! Luckily thanks to the holiday, Morgan and Amy and realtor Tracy had their first offer accepted! Homeownership came with challenges (hello new roof) and plenty of new adventures. Meanwhile, Morgan and Amy were planning their engagement trip in Glen Arbor. Since Amy hates surprises and Morgan loves them, they comprised on a trip where they’d each pop the question at some point on the vacation. Dear reader, they both proposed on the first day. The rest of the vacation was spent at the Glen Arbor Bed & Breakfast, where they enjoyed a peaceful weekend browsing bookstores and taking in the fall colors. Shortly after getting engaged, Morgan and Amy welcomed their new puppy, Annie James (named for the iconic 1999 film The Parent Trap). Morgan and Amy (and flower girl Annie) are so excited to welcome you to their wedding in November!
