As many of you already know. We got married in Las Vegas, NV on 11.4.2022 "The Wedding Capital of the World!", where we moved in January 2022. It was a small intimate ceremony at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area with a reception at our home. Knowing all of our friends and family on the East Coast would not be able to attend and make the trip across the country, we of course still wanted to have a big reception! We are SO EXCITED to have you celebrate an extension of this special day with us!
Our love story begins on an unseasonably warm evening in September 2015 on top of Mount Washington, a well known Pittsburgh destination famous for its beautiful views of the city. Morgan was in her final year of medical school. She was applying for residency programs and completing her last few rotations while staying with her childhood bestie, Shannon. Alex was in the process of moving to Pittsburgh from his hometown of Doylestown for a new job. Little did we know, the universe had something bigger than beautiful views of the city in store for the two of us. Morgan and Shannon decided to go to their favorite neighborhood bar, Bigham Tavern. Alex also happened to be in the same neighborhood touring a potential house for when he moved. Being unfamiliar with the neighborhood, he asked the owner if there was anything nearby worth exploring. The owner mentioned Bigham Tavern located right around the corner. After the tour, Alex walked over to feel out the vibe. He took a quick look inside to assess, confirming the food, music and number of TV’s inside to watch sports was adequate. He was heavily contemplating if this was the right neighborhood to pick as his future home. As Alex walked outside, he did a double take because out of the blue, a beautiful girl was standing there on the sidewalk. The world stopped as we made eye contact. Morgan’s radiating energy pushed Alex to make the first move and say hello, feeling an overwhelming sense of joy and nervousness when she said hello back. That hello turned into a lively conversation of things we have in common such as love for music, family, camping, traveling and the best/worst things about living in Pittsburgh. If you know Pittsburgh, it is filled with lots of windy, bumpy, poorly paved roads and one way streets that make it impossible to find parking. Morgan had been outside waiting for Shannon to get the car parked several blocks away to go home. Shannon pulled up and rolled down her window yelling for Morgan to get into the car. However, we continued talking, oblivious to anything happening outside of our conversation. We snapped back to reality and realized there was a line of cars behind Shannon on the street. We quickly exchanged numbers and went our separate ways.
In the following weeks, Alex persistently pursued Morgan to hang out again. Within those few minutes of speaking together, he couldn’t get over how lovely, genuine, intelligent and kind hearted Morgan was. We texted back and forth numerous times, but Morgan was always busy when Alex would ask her to hang out. It’s not that Morgan wasn’t interested, she was just spending weekends back in State College tailgating for Penn State football games with her family. Finally on October 3rd, his luck was about to change. Alex noticed producer and DJ Flux Pavilion was playing at Stage AE downtown. He bought 2 tickets hoping Morgan would go with him and much to his surprise she said yes! We had so much fun dancing and headbanging together, we weren’t ready to call it a night after the show ended. Still buzzing from the music and feeling lucky, we decided to walk over to Rivers Casino nearby. Though we now live in Las Vegas, we really aren’t gamblers. We agreed to place one bet together on the Roulette table, betting it all on black and won! Feeling on top of the world, we cashed out and split the winnings 50/50. The following morning, Alex texted Morgan as soon as he woke up to ask her if she wanted to watch football. Anyone who knows Morgan, knows she is a huge sports fan, so of course she said yes. From that moment on, we spent as much time together as possible. Despite her cat allergy, Morgan fell in love with King Tut, a charismatic black cat rescued from the mountains of Idaho when Alex was hiking one day. King Tut also fell in love with Morgan, confirming to Alex that she was definitely “the one”.
Alex had been working with his college friend Jess who owns a jewelry store in St. Louis, Adler’s Diamonds, to help him custom design the most perfect, special and one-of-a-kind ring for the love of his life. He knew Morgan wasn't much of a fan of diamonds on their own and she had been hinting and showing him pictures of rings with teal sapphires. She explained that blue sapphires are traditionally associated with love and purity and green sapphires opens/supports the heart chakra, bringing in the energies of love, compassion, patience and tolerance. A teal sapphire would combine the attributes of both. After weeks of looking at dozens of sapphires, finally one spoke to Alex as the perfect fit for Morgan to wear for a lifetime. A beautiful, radiant 2.71ct teal sapphire sourced from Sri Lanka. After more than a month waiting for the precious ring, it was finally ready. It arrived in a discrete package in December 2021 to our home in San Diego. Once the ring was in his hands, Alex wanted to propose to Morgan on the spot. However, he decided to stick to the plan of proposing to her during our upcoming trip to San Francisco in front of the Golden Gate Bridge. Alex got the potential idea from Morgan’s amazing father, Wayne, given the immense beauty of the area. Alex had many proposal ideas, but this one coming from Wayne who he really looks up to meant the world and knew it would mean so much to Morgan as well. It would be our first time visiting the beautiful city and seeing the iconic bridge in person. Once we arrived in the city and picked up our rental car, we headed straight to Baker Beach, a popular SF destination known for sweeping views of serpentine cliffs in front of the Golden Gate Bridge. Morgan could tell Alex was acting a little odd, especially when he asked her what she would be wearing today, which is something he doesn’t normally pay attention to. As soon as they got to Baker Beach, it started raining. At first, Alex began to panic thinking this is a bad sign and not what he was envisioning for the grand proposal. His fears were quickly alleviated once he realized the rain caused everyone to clear out, leaving the entire beach to ourselves. We walked around the beach playing in the sand, climbing up and down cliffs, not caring we were soaking wet, and so happy being together and having this moment all to ourselves. Alex gave Morgan a bigger, tighter, longer hug than usual and looked directly into her eyes. He told her how much he loved her followed by getting down on one knee asking for her hand in marriage with everything in existence exactly where it was meant to be in a truly perfect moment in space and time. She said YES! It was one of the happiest day in our lives…thus far that is…stay tuned as we continue writing beautiful heart filled chapters rain or shine in our lives with the love and support of the best family and friends anyone could possibly ask for! 🧡
