For our out-of-towners, you can fly into SFO or OAK. Uber and Lyft are the most common ways to get around, but both airports are also connected to BART, our local train system. If you are planning to spend more time in California, you might consider flying into one of the Los Angeles airports and driving up the coast. It's a stunning drive that can take as few as five hours or can be stretched into a couple of days!
Most of the hotels in SF are near the Financial District and around Fisherman's Wharf. These areas have good public transit and are pretty convenient for getting to our events and to the many sights and activities in the city! If you want a more San Franciscan experience, you can definitely consider Airbnb or VRBO. Our favorite neighborhoods include NoPa, Presidio Heights, Noe Valley, the Marina, and North Beach! The Marina and North Beach would be closer to the venues, but SF isn't that big, so getting around would be just as easy as staying in a hotel.
While June is technically a summer month, in San Francisco, it can be quite cold. The days are typically sunny but the fog rolls in by early evening. Highs are in the low to mid 70s F (18-23C) and it'll get down to 60F/15C at night. Definitely pack a coat and a sweater or two!
Uber and Lyft are reliable, and we can't recommend Waymo enough if you want to try out an autonomous vehicle. There's also Flywheel which is the app for taxis. Morgan is also a fan of the public transit, Muni, to get around SF.
We have so many folks flying in for our wedding that we wanted multiple events where we can spend time with everyone! We understand that wedding days can be quite a blur for couples, and we want to make sure we see all of our loved ones as much as possible during this huge life event. We encourage folks to come to every event they can, but also totally understand that a long weekend is not possible for everyone.
For Thursday, we will be at a club in the Financial District, so we expect people to show up in smart casual wear (like you just came from the office, as many of our local friends will be). Friday is similar, as we'll be at a pretty restaurant near the water, and we should note that it'll likely cool down as the sun sets. Think sweaters and sports jackets and coats and dressy separates. Finally, the wedding. We are asking for "formal garden party". We are hosting a formal affair, so please consider suits and ties and dresses and long jumpsuits, but we want folks to express themselves in their own way! Color, patterns, and florals are most welcome! We should note that we will have a dedicated photographer for portrait photos should you wish.
Yes! Chuck Byce has lovingly put together a very comprehensive guide to all of our favorites! Please check that out on the Travel tab of this site.
