From Meet Cute to Forever

The Buzz on Us

Q: So, how did you two meet? Tyler: It all began at “The Buzz,” this café I’d go to after school to decompress—homework, drinks, the usual. I had my sights set on someone else at the time—Erin, a mutual friend of ours. But then I kept noticing this small, blonde goddess popping over from the Sazzy side, checking in every so often. I thought she was divine, but I was there for Erin, so I didn’t give it much thought—at first. Morgaine: I was working at Sazzy B at the time, just trying to get through life. I’d seen Tyler a few times doing homework at the end of the bar. He was really cute, but since he was talking with Erin, I didn’t think much of it. One night in September, I finished my shift and sat down near him at the bar. Erin was closing up, and Tyler and I just started talking. Tyler: She sat a few chairs down from me, folding silverware, and started chatting with both Erin and me. Erin had to bounce between guests, so Morgaine and I got a lot of time to ourselves. I asked her name, and that’s when “the one who is to be known as Morgaine” officially entered my life. Morgaine: It turns out we had a ton in common—he’s a Navy veteran, I grew up in the Navy. He had a meme go viral during COVID—I had one too. And get this—I had seen his meme before. It was exactly the kind of dumb humor I love. Tyler: Yeah, we ended up over at Sazzy’s bar, the three of us, and Morgaine just kept “meme-ing”—making me laugh, referencing everything under the sun. I forgot all about Erin. Morgaine had this glow, this energy, and I got totally drawn in. Morgaine: At some point, Erin realized what was going on and basically gave me the green light. She saw the connection and wasn’t actually looking to date anyway. I was relieved—we had kind of turned her date into a third-wheel situation. Tyler: Before midnight, Morgaine asked if she could put her number in my phone. I was ecstatic. I had no idea what I’d just started. That whole week, I couldn’t stop thinking about her. The way she smelled, her laugh—it haunted me in the best way. Q: What happened next? Morgaine: A few days later, my demon-spawn of a car, a Hyundai Tucson, got a flat tire. I totally forgot I had AAA and texted Tyler for help. Despite living half an hour away in Paddock Lake, he came right over. Tyler: I did a horrible job changing that tire. We parked on a slope, couldn’t get the jack up properly—it was a mess. Some guy took pity on us and helped finish the job. But even during that disaster, we just clicked. Morgaine: He was so funny and charming, even when totally screwing up the tire change. I just knew—I wasn’t letting this guy go. Tyler: After that, we spent a few nights watching movies and talking until the early morning. Within six months, we were living together. Now, we’re getting married. It feels like the stars foretold it—this was meant to be. Morgaine: He’s my forever, no doubt about it.
