Question

Why Montenegro?

Answer

Being that travel is a huge part of our love story, we knew we were going to have a destination wedding. However, the next part of that question became “where?” We know there are so many beautiful places around the world and quickly thought maybe Italy or Greece… However, we know that many of you have already been to destinations like Italy and Greece or will likely go at some point in your life. What we really wanted was to celebrate our love in a unique destination that you will always remember when you think of us. We quickly began researching travel destinations in Europe and were simply blown away when we started seeing TikToks and travel photos from Montenegro. Situated right under Croatia and across the Adriatic Sea from Italy, Montenegro is an absolutely stunning country with breathtaking views. We cannot encapsulate the beauty of this country into words - you will just have to see for yourself. It goes beyond the beauty, though, with incredible traditional food, and the warmest local people who are so proud of their country, and the beautiful cats that are found all over! As soon as we visited, we knew that this was the unique destination that we were looking for. We cannot wait to share this special place with you.

Question

How do I get to Montenegro?

Answer

For the time restrained traveler: NYC -> Dubrovnik, Croatia: Being as TVA airport in Montenegro is a smaller airport, nonstop flight service from NYC is not offered. We suggest flying from any airport in NYC to Dubrovnik, Croatia. You will likely have a short layover in a major European hub (London, Paris, Berlin, etc.). Layovers are typically only a few hours, giving you enough time to get to your gate and pick up some airport coffee or a cocktail and you will be on your way in no time. Once landing in Dubrovnik, you can choose to spend some time here as it is a very popular destination for visitors around the world OR you can continue your travels and drive right into Perast, Montenegro. Perast is a 2 hour drive from Dubrovnik and can easily be reached by several bus companies or you can most definitely choose to rent a car and do the drive at your leisure. We are also happy to set up a transfer for you with our hotel. Please let us know in advance if you will require a transfer to Perast from Dubrovnik. If you choose to take the bus, you will want to visit getbybus.com and your destination will be Kotor. For the “I need a vacation” traveler: NYC -> Anywhere: If you are turning our special day into a vacation (we hope you are), we suggest picking your favorite city in Europe or a city you have always dreamt of going to and booking a direct flight there. Spend a few days there, live like real Europeans do and relax a little before the wedding festivities begin. Drink a pint of Guinness at the famed Temple Bar in Dublin, climb 1,165 steps to the top of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, or visit King Charles in Buckingham Palace. Once you’ve checked at least two things off your bucket list, book a separate flight to Tivat or Dubrovnik from there. Some of our favorite cities that have direct flight service from NYC are: Dublin, London, Rome, Athens, Paris. *Also note that Easy Jet offers direct flight service to Tivat in Montenegro from London, Berlin, Munich.

Question

Where should I stay?

Answer

Our special day will take place at Hotel Conte in Perast. Perast is a medieval waterfront town with shops, restaurants, hotels, beautiful blue water, and 17 churches! Fun fact: Due to long-time Ottoman rule, Montenegro is primarily an Orthodox country. However, 16 out of the 17 churches in Perast are Roman Catholic. Perast even has a charming floating church in the bay called Our Lady of the Rocks. This town is 100% walkable. You will have to park your car before the gates and travel by foot around this small town. If you do not have a car, the local bus will also drop you off in front of the entrance to this town. We would love for you to stay with us at Hotel Conte, where you will receive a 10% discount off your room(s) by emailing the hotel directly and letting them know you are part of our wedding party. If you prefer to stay in a different hotel, we suggest Hotel Leon Coronato or Heritage Grand Perast (this one has a gorgeous infinity pool right in the bay). There are a few others you will see if you google “hotels in Perast, Montenegro.” If you are traveling as a group and prefer to all stay together, airbnb also has some really incredible options. Please ensure that the airbnb says “Perast” specifically. Many of them will say “Kotor” which is also an awesome option but keep in mind it is a 20 minute drive away from Perast.

Question

What should I pack?

Answer

Passport: We hope this goes without saying but you must have a passport! Montenegro is a European country and passports are required for all international travel. You will need your passport on several occasions throughout your travels. If you are driving from Croatia to Montenegro, you will need to show your passport on 2 separate occasions; passport control in both Croatia and Montenegro. (P.S - if you are making this drive, please prepare to leave early in the morning to avoid any traffic or delays) European Outlet Converter: Montenegro uses classic European outlets so you will need a US to European outlet converter you can find on Amazon Euros: The primary currency in Montenegro is the Euro. Please ensure you are bringing some euros with you on your travels - especially if you are visiting other European countries prior Allergy/Cold Medication: You will surely be in cat heaven so if you are allergic to our furry friends, please do not forget your allergy medication! Water Shoes/Flip Flops: The beaches in the Bay of Kotor can be quite rocky. We suggest bringing flip flops or water shoes to protect your feet. SPF: Please bring sunscreen. Montenegro will be in the 80’s during the month of September and you will be spending a lot of time outdoors Beach Towels: Please pack one beach towel per person. You will definitely be wanting to jump into the bay so come prepared!

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

Please pack for a semi-formal event. We want you to dress up but of course be comfortable! Our theme is "where the mountains meet the sea," with signature colors green and blue. You are not required to wear green or blue, this is just a suggestion based on our color scheme and the scenery!
