Many of you haven’t had the opportunity to meet my fiancé Tyler, and I’m so excited for our families to come together to celebrate with us! Tyler and I didn’t happen to meet by chance, but quite the opposite. Five years ago I started working at the courthouse in Oregon City, where Tyler’s mom Kim worked (and my mom too). Little did I know Kim had a plan. She had wanted to introduce us from the beginning, but unfortunately Tyler was stationed in Okinawa, Japan and the stars never quite lined up. Not until the summer of 2016, that is. Tyler came home to Oregon for a month on leave, and Kim asked if I would be okay if Tyler were to come into work and ask me out for coffee. So she arranged a time and her plan was put into action. Tyler came to my work the next day and introduced himself, and asked if I would like to get a cup of coffee with him (even though he doesn’t drink coffee). But unfortunately he came over an hour late, so I told him no. But I did agree to go to lunch the next day, and the rest is history. Sadly not long after Tyler had to leave for Twentynine Palms, CA where he finished his service in the Marine Corps on January 1, 2018. Sometimes in life you come across something that you just know in your heart is right, and that’s exactly what happened with Tyler. We knew quickly that we were meant for each other, and last May he popped the question (at 4am in a park, but that’s another story).
