Joel and I are living proof that dating apps really do work! I think we had both kind of thrown in the towel on meeting the right person, and were in our "what the heck" phase. My first word to Joel was "Yes!!" in response to his Hinge profile quote that said something along the lines of "seeing God in nature is my favorite form of worship." We talked on Hinge for only three days and Face-timed once for like six hours, then he spontaneously flew from Cincinnati to Orlando to have our first date on Valentine's day. The day before he came I remember being so giddy with excitement. I felt like it might be love at first sight. I remember talking to my parents, and thinking "is this the man I am going to marry?" I didn't believe in love at first sight until then. After that, we jumped right in. We said our first "I love you" on our first camping trip in the Red River Gorge. We had about four dates until we realized we were going to have to marry each other. It was just a matter of time. It felt like we had grown up as childhood best friends and had known each other our whole lives. Joel has been amazing at doing long distance, while we've lived apart in Branson and Cincinnati this past year. A nine hour drive over two states never stopped him from visiting every other weekend, and showing up to propose to me on Christmas Eve. How we even lasted ten months un-engaged is beyond me. We could've married each other after our fourth date! But we supposed it was the "proper" thing to do to exert patience and proceed with prayer and open palms (and I wanted my ideal wedding!) Now we are so excited to finally be getting married! To many people who hear our story, it may seem we've not been together long enough to make such a big decision. But to us, it seems we've already known each other an eternity. I'm ecstatic to marry the man who has exceeded my dreams by a million miles.
