How We Met

From a swipe to forever

Like many great love stories, ours began somewhere between a swipe and a second chance. Joe came across Moore on Tinder while considering a move to Kentucky. It wasn’t an instant match—but something about her stayed with him, like a thought you don’t quite forget. So, being Joe, he didn’t leave it there. A few messages later (and a little persistence), something finally landed—and a conversation began. Not long after, Moore asked one simple question: “Do you have blue eyes?”
When Joe said yes… well, that seemed to be all it took. Before there were plans or even a proper first date, there was a small, unexpected moment. Joe showed up at Moore’s job at the Marriott with Bubble Tea in hand—the first time we saw each other in person. From there, things unfolded in their own way. When Joe moved to Kentucky, Moore wasn’t just someone he was talking to—she became the person he knew, the one who made a new place feel a little more like home. Our first date was at Mussel & Burger Bar—a place that had already been part of our story before we even sat across from each other. It felt, in a small but certain way, like everything was starting exactly where it was meant to. Along the way, we discovered how much we loved the little moments together too—slow mornings, finding new coffee shops, sharing pastries, and going coffee hopping whenever we could. On August 8, 2019, we made it official. Joe still likes to say he had a girlfriend before he had an apartment in Kentucky… and honestly, he’s probably right. And then came one of our sweetest milestones. On February 3, 2020, as an early Valentine’s Day surprise, we welcomed Miley into our lives—a tiny bundle who would quickly become family. She’s been by our side through everything, and now she’s turning seven this November. Somewhere along the way, we discovered how much we love exploring the world together. From quiet trails to breathtaking views, we’ve spent countless days hiking, camping under the stars in a tent, and chasing new landscapes—visiting 15 national parks so far, with many more still on our list. Alongside the adventures, it’s the little things that make us us. Joe has a passion for collecting bourbons each bottle and piece with its own story—while Moore finds joy in collecting perfumes, each scent holding a memory of a moment in time. Louisville is where our story began—but it wasn’t where it would stay. In time, we took a leap of faith and found our way to Cleveland—the place Joe has always loved most—and where we’ve made a life together. And now, we return to August 8—not by coincidence, but by choice. A date that has always felt like ours, from the very beginning.
