Strolling the Scenic Grandview Drive
We’d love for you to experience one of our favorite places in Peoria—the scenic Grandview Drive. This 2.5-mile stretch holds an incredibly special place in our hearts because it’s the exact spot where Michael proposed! You can choose to drive the winding road or walk the 1.75 miles of paved sidewalks. You’ll be treated to 'heroic' panoramic views of the Illinois River Valley and pass by the stunning, medieval-style Soderstrom Castle. Along the way, you'll find plenty of benches and picnic tables to stop and take in the view. This drive is especially breathtaking at sunset—the golden hour over the river valley is a sight you won't want to miss! After your stroll, head into Peoria Heights to visit our absolute favorite local spots: Our Favorite Coffee: Grab a brew at Leaves 'n Beans Coffee—our go-to for a cozy caffeine fix. Our Favorite Dining: For a great meal, we highly recommend Jim's Bistro, W.E. Sullivan’s, or Joe’s Original Italian & Martini Bar.
Peoria Riverfront Museum
The Peoria Riverfront Museum is a great place to explore. Here is information on parking and admission: Parking Information Free Museum Parking Garage: Located off Water Street between Main and Liberty. Parking is free with museum admission. Nearby Paid Decks: If the museum garage is full, use the Adams/Fulton St or Riverfront parking decks, a short walk away. Admission Prices (Galleries & Planetarium) The Peoria Riverfront Museum is offering free admission to Illinois K-12 students through the All-Illinois Student Access Pass. (Patrons must mention this program at the ticket desk for free entry.) Prices are per person for general admission to galleries and daytime planetarium shows. Adults: $20.00 Seniors (60+): $18.00 Youth (3 - 17): $16.00 Children (Under 3): Free
