How We Met

UCONN // August 2007

You will most likely get a different story depending on which one of us you ask. Adam's version involves Amanda chasing him, and Amanda's version is quite the opposite. HINT HINT Amanda is always right. As fate would have it, at the start of senior year at UCONN, Amanda and her two friends moved into the apartment right next door to Adam and his roommates. The parking situation wasn't great, and most of the tenants had recently started parking along the side of the road. That was, until the police eventually started to take notice and began handing out parking tickets. And so, as every love story goes, Adam saw Amanda's little Subaru Impreza with a Hawaiian lei around the rearview mirror parked on the side of the road and he built up the confidence to go next door to be the hero and sweep her off her feet. He knocked and sure enough Amanda came to the door. Adam used the killer pickup line "Is that your car by the road?" and Amanda confirmed that it was. Adam came back with "You probably want to move it. The police have been ticketing". And the rest is history....

The Proposal

San Diego, CA // 2 November 2019

We've played the long game. After only 11 years of dating, Adam decided to take the plunge and propose to Amanda. On a trip to Hawaii in November of 2019 with our travel buddies Jeff and Sabra (who muled the ring through airport security), we stopped in San Diego to spend the weekend with our good friend (and bridesmaid) Jess. Adam had talked to her about helping with the proposal and they came up with a plan, although the specifics weren't totally ironed out. So the first evening in San Diego, we poured some wine and walked down to Dog Beach. Jess could tell Adam was nervous so she offered to carry the ring and handed it off once we got to our destination. Except, Adam wasn't totally expecting it in the moment, or his nerves got the best of him, and anyone from a distance would have thought it was a drug deal gone bad. Amanda (noticing the handoff of a little black box) started to freak out. Adam tried to convince her to take a picture looking away from the camera and then got down on one knee and went for it. Amanda, completely shocked, forgot to give Adam the answer he was looking for.... so he said "You didn't answer...." and she replied with "Of course!". We couldn't be more excited to celebrate with all of you in August!
