On October 17, 2019, Jacob attended his first twenties bible study through Christ Church of Oak Brook. Haleigh immediately noticed this newcomer, proceeded to walk right up to him, and struck up a conversation. After a few minutes of talking, Haleigh thought, “There’s something different about this guy. I just can’t put my finger on it.” As fate would have it, there was something different about this guy… she just met her future husband. A few weeks later, Jacob messaged Haleigh to grab drinks one night. Over Blue Moons on a Wednesday evening, they spent five hours at Pierce Tavern in Downers Grove, talking long after the place closed for the night. The spark only grew stronger leading Jacob to ask Haleigh to be his girlfriend after a Purdue basketball game. A few years later, Jacob surprised Haleigh with a weekend getaway to Door County. While on a hike and to the tune of George Strait’s “Check Yes or No,” he asked Haleigh if she will marry him, check yes or no. It was the easiest yes of her life!
