David and Monya met working at Home of the Innocents in 2017. Monya first caught David's eye while working as a part time resident counselor to earn some extra cash. However, their first encounter occurred before then (David doesn't remember) and was a bit of a disaster. Monya had just finished facilitating a peer group and decided to turn in the company's van a little early due to the lack of attendance. David, while inspecting the van, noticed a Reese cup on one of the seats and noted it on the inspection form. Monya, argued that she didn't have anyone in the seat but David being David put it down anyways. Luckily for the two, this wouldn't be the last time their paths met. As Monya continued to work as an RC, David was promoted to Program Manager of the unit Monya would be working on. Due to being short staff, Monya spent every weekend working. To thank the team, David invited Monya and them out to eat, only to be called in and bail on their dinner. To make up for it, David invited everyone out for drinks. Coincidentally, Monya was the only one that took him up on that offer and the rest is history. The two have overcome several obstacles, from being one another's supervisor to the agency creating a nepotism policy soon after the two decided to make it "official." Despite it all, the two remain inseparable. A few of David and Monya's favorite memories from their time together: attending many concerts and shows, traveling across country and to Jamaica, working out, and several trips to the gun range. David's and Monya's proposal was very intimate. David and Monya both were planning surprises for one another. Monya, planning a surprise dinner for David's 30th birthday, and David, planning when the right time to pop the question. During the firework show on the 4th of July, David got down on one knee--- hugs and kisses were shared and it was an amazing experience. We're so excited for you to join us as we say "I do" at our wedding on April 30, 2022.
