Unless you are planning on going venturing out to the outback, you should be safe and sound in the urban environment that is Melbourne.
15 hours is no doubt a long time. If you are particiularly concerned, booking economy plus can be worth it. All in all however, we have found economy to be quite doable. If you are doing a non-stop flight, they try to set it up for it to be as restful as possible. They will serve dinner (having some wine can help) and darken the cabin lights to help you sleep. Two additional snacks will also be provided. Breakfast will be served not long before touching down during the Australian morning. You do not need to constantly be sitting. Quarters may be tight, but you are welcome to get up an stretch your legs as needed. Most flights offer a wide selection of movies and entertainment to help pass the time. If this still doesn't sound doable, you can always break up your trip with layovers in places like Hawaii. Pro tips: 1) invest in a super supportive travel pilow and wear layers. They do provide a light blanket and small pillow 2) bring along a large water bottle to keep hydrated without needing to repeatedly page a flight attendant 3) Bring melotonin or a sleep aid if sleeping on planes is challenging for you. Also try staying up late the night before leaving.
