FAQs

We have tried to be as thorough as possible. If you have any other questions, feel free to message us.
Question

Where is the wedding?

Answer

The wedding ceremony will be held at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Joplin with the reception to follow at The Venue @52nd Street just outside of Carthage. It is a 20 minute drive between the church and the venue!

Question

What is the Dress Code?

Answer

Please adorn yourself in Funky Formal attire! We're talking sequins, feathers, funky patterns, velvet, anything that would make disco proud. As our ceremony is in the church we ask that shoulders are covered and the hemlines are still appropriate. You can lose the covering at the reception! We also ask, NO DENIM JEANS. You can wear jeans 364 other days of the year. Below is a mood board on Pinterest if you would like inspiration! https://pin.it/3Dhx1gB4F

Question

What will we be eating?

Answer

We will be serving dinner buffet style with barbecue favorites. We will try to accommodate our vegetarian friends as best we can! Please let us know if you have any allergies that are not as common.

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

With the size of both of our families, we are unable to provide plus ones to anyone unless specified on your invitation. We want to celebrate with everyone we love, within limits to city fire codes. If any guests bring a plus one that was not listed on the invitation we will unfortunately not be able to accommodate them and they will be asked to leave.

Question

Can I bring my kids?

Answer

Due to the venues guidelines for bar service and safety, we are unable to extend the invitation to your littles. The ceremony and reception are completely child free, including family and friends. If you bring your children we will have to ask you to leave with them. We want you to be able to have fun all night, get a babysitter and get your groove on!

Question

Cocktail hour and the Bar

Answer

We will be having an open bar at the reception. Drinks will be served by our dear friends Katie Cook and Megan Henry. We ask that you please bring cash to tip them for their service!

Question

Buffet line and Seating Chart

Answer

We will provide table numbers upon your entry into the reception. We will be auctioning the rights to first in the buffet line to the table that bids the highest. All proceeds will go towards the happy couples honeymoon fund!

Question

Phones and Cameras during the Ceremony?

Answer

As this is a religious ceremony and we have a hired photographer who will work with the church on what photos are allowed, we will not allow any other photography or video while in the church. We trust the professionals with this one!

Question

I've never been to a Catholic wedding before, what can I expect?

Answer

We will be having a full Mass wedding in the Catholic Church. Please ensure that you have eaten a proper lunch before arriving as the ceremony may last over an hour. There will be incense in use. All applause and cheering must be held at the very end of the ceremony. Appropriate language and dress is required. If you have any specific questions, please ask the couple directly!

Question

When should I arrive?

Answer

Allow for plenty of time to park and get seated for the ceremony before 1pm. We will begin promptly. If you are not seated at that time, you will not be permitted into the ceremony until after the Bride has made it down the aisle.
