Visiting DC

Church of the Resurrection

501 E St SE, Washington, DC 20003

Our wedding on June 14th will take place here at our church! There's lots to do around the church, which is located on Capitol Hill. The nearest metro is Eastern Market.

United States Botanic Garden

100 Maryland Avenue Southwest, Washington, DC 20001

Visit the site of our first date! Free and beautiful and an easy walk from the church. You'll probably pass some other pretty amazing DC sites on your way.

Exploring the National Mall

Our ceremony location (Church of the Resurrection) is close to the heart of Capitol Hill. You can visit the US Capitol, the Library of Congress, the National Gallery of Art, and a dozen Smithsonian musuems along the National Mall. All the way at the other end sits the Lincoln Memorial. So many places to explore, and all free! We love our beautiful city and hope you can enjoy it while you are in town to celebrate with us.

Carlyle House Historic Park

121 North Fairfax Street, Alexandria, VA 22314

Go to Carlyle House! Heck, sign up for a yoga class on the morning of the wedding (we wish we could join you!). Katie is on the board of this historic home in Old Town Alexandria and thinks it is a jewel of a house to visit. The gardens are glorious, the volunteers are kind, and the knowledge is nerdy.

Hillwood Estate, Museum & Gardens

4155 Linnean Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20008

A beautiful historic house owned by Marjorie Merriweather Post -- the gardens, the collections, the house itself!

Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center

14390 Air and Space Museum Parkway, Chantilly, VA 20151

This is close to Dulles Airport and is best suited for those who have a car, but we LOVE this museum and think it is a gem that is not on the National Mall.

Folger Shakespeare Library

201 East Capitol Street Southeast, Washington, DC 20003

A highlight for Kendall and Katie -- we spent a glorious morning exploring the newly opened collection and then Kendall whisked Katie off to Paraiso and told her he loved her. That, and it's a FABULOUS collection for nerds everywhere.

Arboretum

3501 New York Avenue NE, Washington, DC 20002

A free, huge, drivable and walkable open space of trees, plants, flowers, and grounds

Call Your Mother Deli – Barracks Row / Capitol Hill D.C.

701 8th Street Southeast, Washington, DC 20003

Kendall and Katie met here for their first date, accidentally grabbed someone else's bagel order (still delicious), and sat in the park across from church before walking to the US Botanic Garden.

Paraiso - Mexican Restaurant Taqueria & Mezcaleria

1101 Pennsylvania Avenue Southeast, Washington, DC 20003

Zaytinya

701 9th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20001

A tried-and-true favorite restaurant of many, Zaytinya has delicious Mediterranean food for all times of the day.

Hill East Burger

1432 Pennsylvania Avenue Southeast, Washington, DC 20003

Delicious burgers, fun drinks, and a lowkey vibe

The Red Hen

1822 1st Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20001

Kendall and Katie took her parents here for LaVonne's birthday in 2024 (when they were in DC to literally just "meet Kendall"). It is a friend favorite and now one of our favorites -- great food for a nice night out.

Immigrant Food at Planet Word

925 13th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20005

Multiple locations for this tasty place that brings together cultural culinary adventures at decent prices

Caruso's Grocery

1401 Pennsylvania Avenue Southeast, Washington, DC 20003

The BEST Italian food in the area (we think) and the site of two of our favorite dates. We celebrated our engagement and Kendall's new job here, and will wax poetic about every dish for days.

Torai Sushi

751 8th Street Southeast, Washington, DC 20003

Amazing sushi at an amazing price. Kendall and Katie enjoy sharing the "Love Boat."

Turkish Coffee Lady

1001 King Street, Alexandria, VA 22314

If you know Kendall, you know he loves Turkey AND he loves coffee. This cute location in Old Town Alexandria boasts a delightful coffee experience and also lands you on King Street, where you can explore the rest of this cute suburb of DC.

La Bonne Vache

3265 Prospect Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20007

No reservations at this divine French burger joint, but if you can get there when it opens, you won't regret it. Order any of the burgers, a side of frites, and a glass of bubbly and you will be set for your time in Georgetown.

Metropolitan Beer Trail

1101 First St NE, Washington, DC

Welcome to DC’s largest ale trail, each of the 12 locations on the Trail is walkable or bikeable from the Metropolitan Branch Trail, stretching from Union Station through NoMa, Eckington, & Brookland. The beer journey you’ve been dreaming about—where local flavor meets urban adventure. Discover the bold brews, the innovative craft, and the unbeatable energy of DC’s brewery scene. From hoppy IPAs to smooth lagers, every stop brings a new taste, a new vibe, and a new reason to raise your glass.
