How We Met

Yup...The Maverick Saloon

Her Version: I was hired to help jump start the "New" Maverick in 2017. I served cocktails a couple times a week. I was coming back from a vacation, and on my next shift I noticed a guy wearing dirty pants, a hat and a Sherpa-lined jean jacket lingering at the front door. I looked at the schedule and saw "Charles" written under the security team. I asked the GM about it and he said, 'Oh that's Chuck, he is running security for us now. Go say "hi"'. I thought to myself, "Of course, we hired a handsome, rugged guy to run security at a country dive bar in this small town. What movie is this?" I went to introduce myself and he told me his name was "Charlie". Charles, Chuck, Charlie...um ok? Over the next several months we became friends at the bar. I would bring coffee to him during my rounds, and he would ask me to go hiking. I would say no. Until, one February evening I agreed to take a walk with him at Goleta Beach. It is safe to say, we have been side by side ever since. His Version: One night my roommate randomly said, "Let's go get jobs at the Maverick." Without thinking it through, I agreed. On my first night at work I was already questioning why I had ever agreed to taking another job at a bar. That all changed when a tall blonde walked up and introduced herself and asked if I wanted coffee. As she walked away I thought to myself, "She could definitely produce me my Viking offspring!" I promptly asked her if she would like to go hiking with me. She said no. Despite rejecting me, she continued to talk to me and bring me coffee. After I learned she loved camping, fishing and shooting I asked if she would ever want to do those thing with me. She didn't. Convinced I met the woman of my dreams, I wasn't going to give up. After months, she finally agreed to go on a walk with me at Goleta Beach. I knew i wanted to marry her. In my excitement I playfully judo tossed her into the sand. Luckily, that wasn't a deal breaker--WE ARE FINALLY GETTING MARRIED!
