While Levarr's optimism for finding a wife was unwavering, Monique's hope was fading fast. In one final attempt before resigning to a life of singleness and I Love Lucy reruns, Monique decided to give online dating one more try. While brushing her teeth she scrolled through profiles...no...no...no thank you. She read one last profile before putting her phone down. She quickly picked it back up thinking to herself..."did I just see what I think I saw??!" She re-read the profile several times. "Attractive, loves God and hates modern day dating! This guy is speaking my language." Knowing that this was her final attempt at putting herself out there, she resolved to give it her best effort. Instead of just liking his profile, she gave it a Super Like. After a long honest day’s work, Varr unbuckled his bootstraps and sat down in his favorite armchair to unwind. While getting the day off him, he hopped onto the dating app and saw that he got a Super Like. Usually when super likes come through he doesn't take them seriously, but this one was different. As he scrolled through the profile he was taken aback by the beauty and modesty of what he saw. His only hesitation was the distance between the two of them. Although she was 81 miles away, he decided to see what this woman was about anyway and liked her profile back. Here's how the week ensued... Tuesday - Matched. They liked each other. Wednesday - First video call. They really liked each other. Thursday - First phone call. They really really liked each other. Friday - First date at Dave and Busters. They fell in love. For Monique, it was when he hugged her inside Dave & Busters. That's when she knew this was it. This is the husband she had been praying for all these years. For Varr, it was a little sooner. As soon as they walked into Dave and Busters and he got to see her fully in the light, he was sure. His eyes did not deceive him. This was his girl. What most people don't know is after their first date, Varr's church was leading a fast. How timely. They started their relationship by fasting and praying together every morning at 6:00am. As the bible says…”But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well” Matthew 6:33. There was no question that they were going to get married. The only matter to sort out was when. Like any couple, they had some humbling moments along the way. However, they were both unrelenting in their desire to love one another through it all. As God says, “Love never fails!” As a couple, they share many pastimes. Varr cooking, Monique eating Varr's cooking, watching bad movies and taking random naps in the middle of the day. But their most cherished is roller skating. God loves them so much that He made sure there were 2 skating rinks within 20 minutes of their new home in Cleveland. They used to drive 45 mins to an hour to go skating almost every weekend back home. What Levarr and Monique desire most is to honor God and bring glory to His name through their marriage. “We live in a broken world but the God we serve brings hope, joy, peace and steadfast love. That's what we want everyone to see when they look at our lives. When you put your faith in Jesus, the Son of God and Saviour of our lives, and live your life according to his Word, you get more than you could ever ask, dream, or imagine!” “Thank you Lord for being faithful to your promises! The wait was well worth it.”
