We met at my mom's kickboxing gym. I got a phone call from my mom asking me to look out for her friend from work, Monique. I was expecting a middle aged woman who wanted to try kickboxing; next thing I know, this 20 something year old woman with tiny shorts, the most attractive tattoos, a stunning smile, and a ridiculously high pony tail, walked into the room. As I walked over to introduce myself, the last thing on my mind was my mom's friend. To my surprise, she smiled and said "Hi. My name is Monique." I happily paired up with the HOT girl and went through drills. The entire class it felt like my skin was on fire! Praying she didn't notice, I realized she was giggly and nervous just like me. Then came time to spar... the bell rang and I asked if she was ready to which she nodded yes. I threw a quick jab expecting her to block and hit her square in the face. She fell in love, and I knew she could take a punch. It really was Love at first fight. Looking back now I never thought that would have been the moment to seal our future as one
The Proposal, leading up to that day a natural feeling would have been butterflies but my heart was heavy and filled with guilt. I love being EXTRA but hate being cliché. I knew going out of town for Valentines day would scream PROPOSAL so I convinced her we were going to Denver with the family for her brothers bday. As some of you know, LeAnna is a control freak. The way I was acting was to much for her to bear. She needed to know what was going on. She came across a confirmation email for a Proposal tour at the Downtown Denver Clock Tower. She felt like she was the luckiest girl in the world; that was short lived. I suspected she read the email, called the Clock Tower, and had them send a cancellation. Thankfully I was right! LeAnna didn't have the courage to ask why I wouldn't propose; instead, she tortured me for weeks. The entire 13 hour car ride she pouted and asked "Why don't you love me? What happened? Is there someone else? Is something wrong with me?" My heart broke but I couldn't help but laugh at her. When we arrived in Denver, the family enjoyed snow, smores, and watching LeAnna hate life. The day of the Proposal we were in Downtown Denver when LeAnna said "A horse drawn carriage would be perfect." Not knowing I had booked one; a few seconds later the carriage came into view, I ran up and asked for a ride. LeAnna was furious! How dare I be selfish and go for a ride while her family waits for us in 20 degree weather. Half the ride was a lecture. It was her baby brother's bday and I made the day about us. Why couldn't he come along? She finally had the guts to tell me she knew I had planned to propose but changed my mind. We pulled up to the Tower, I walked inside pretending to feel bad. When she hesitantly walked in the manager offered us a tour. With LeAnna on the verge of tears we went up the elevators and SUPRISE! The doors opened to her family, our song, and a trail of roses. She never saw it coming and I never felt so relieved to tell the truth.
