Anyone that has ever been on a dating app can attest to the fact that it can become exhausting. After about 3 years single, I decided to check out an app but I was over it after about a month. Just as I decided that I would delete the app, I received a message from Kirkland. I responded a couple of weeks later simply because his message to me was very respectful and seemed to come from a genuine place. The funny thing is that after messaging me Kirkland had decided to delete the app too, he just hadn't because it was on his tablet and he's forgotten about it. We first met in person about 3 weeks later and the rest is history.
Kirkland enlisted my best friend's help to pull off an amazing proposal! February 10, 2019 was a very exhausting work day. I was so tired and busy that I wanted to skip basketball practice (it was my first season volunteering with the high school girls team), but I couldn't because the JV coach was out and asked me to run practice. I get to practice and the head coach tells me to make sure I send the girls out at 4:30 for a water break because he wants to speak to both teams together. I said ok thinking nothing of it. 4:30 comes and I send the girls out. I start chatting with one of the assistant coaches and the head coach calls us over to center court. The girls play music during practice which is normal but I was wondering why all of a sudden I heard a love song. I thought nothing of it. I notice the assistant coach looking beyond me as we were talking, which made me turn around to see what she was looking at. I turn around and there is a line of players coming straight at me each handing me a single rose. For the first five girls, I was confused. It was Feb. 10th so I thought, "oh, this must be a Valentine's Day gift for the coaches" lol. Then it hit me... OH MY GOODNESS! In come my mom, my sister, my nieces, my nephew and my best friend. They were followed by more players carrying a sign that said "WILL YOU MARRY ME" and then there was Kirkland. Fully decked in a suit and holding a bouquet of flowers, he reaches me and hands me the flowers. Now I'm holding his flowers and about 15 single roses so he took them from me and asked my best friend to hold them. He then got down on one knee and said nothing. Lol. It took him a few seconds to gather himself but he asked me to marry him and I SAID YES! There were wagers on whether or not I would cry... I did. So, here we are!
