How We Met

July 2017

We went on a missions trip to Haiti together. Conlan had a crush on me for a while, but I had no idea! He decided since we were stuck on an island together for the next week that there was no better time to talk to me. So he did! Over the week, we bonded over late night jokes and card games. I still had no clue he liked me. On the very last day of the trip, he asked me to sit next to him for the ride home and I started to finally get the hint. Before we left the bus to go home, he asked for my number! From then on, we enjoyed hanging out numerous times and continued to get to know each other.

Engagement

November 23, 2019

We were going out on another date (at least that's what I thought). We traveled to many places we had gone throughout our dating relationship. From our first date at Steak n’ Shake, to Bj’s Restaurant, Starbucks, and Downtown Fort Wayne we had a great date. The night was so fun and filled with memories of our past times. We ended our night with a lovely carriage ride. I started thanking him for the wonderful night but he insisted we take a walk around Headwaters Park. We walked and ended up at the spot where we had our first kiss together! It was surrounded by candles. Con asked me to dance with him in the exact same spot we did 2 years ago. We slow danced to "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran again. As the song was ending, he reminded me of the line he used before our first kiss. He said, "How about we make it our first something else?" and that's when he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! I (of course) started hysterically laughing and crying at the same time but still managed to say “YES!”
