After nearly 6 years together Britton and I were content. We talked about the future, our children, our hopes and our dreams. We talked about marriage too, yet no plans ever materialized. One day we received an ad in the mail about an auction. Being the savvy shoppers that we are, we went hoping to score the deal of a lifetime. We perused the merchandise settling on some jewelry we would bid on. We were absolutely in love with a yellow diamond but when the time came to bid it was well over our max budget. Britton tried to low ball him but was unsuccessful. The auctioneer joked and jeered at Britton hoping to coax a few more bucks out of him. The next ring was a beautiful ring with pear and round brilliant cut diamonds. The price was right so we bid. Not a moment passed before another bid was offered. There was a moment of hesitation from the auctioneer who then declared that he was going to stop the auction and let "this lovely couple buy the ring". With our eyes and mouths wide open we smiled and thanked the auctioneer. We had a ring!! :O After purchasing the ring, Britton proposed in the parking lot making it official.
