We're Getting Married!

We met through a mutual friend, Terence Welsh while in Las Vegas, NV. For years our friend Terence kept telling each of us that we would be perfect for each other. However, we both just laughed at such remarks, because the timing was never right. We briefly met once at Terence's daughter's first birthday party. A few years later, we became friends who occasionally talked on the phone and exchanged text messages. Monika's best friend Holly, who is also a good friend of Ken's, decided to organize a friend's vacation to Cancun, Mexico. In September of 2016 we all met in Las Vegas and headed to Cancun, Mexico. Little did we know that this trip will change both our lives for the better, because that's where the magic happened. Almost from day one of our vacation we fell in love with each other as we shared many laughs and good times. We realized how much we both had in common - we both shared the same outlook in life and family values and both had a passion for adventure, traveling and experiencing new things. Although we had spent everyday together in Cancun, we never had an official "first date". We just skipped right to the good part without the awkwardness of first dates. After a week, the vacation was over and we both went back to our homes - Monika to Las Vegas and Ken to California with the dilemma of what's next for us. We ended up having a year of a long distance relationship with lots of trips back and forth or little getaways to San Diego, Monterey or San Francisco. After a year, we finally came up to a conclusion that it was time to join our lives. Monika moved to California and the rest is history. After almost 6 years of lots of great memories, 3 years ago we moved across the country to Massachusetts to start a new life here with 2 of our fur babies - Luna and Zoe, who we both adore!!!! We have taken many day or weekend trips exploring the East Coast - Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, South Carolina just to name a few and two trips to Lithuania - Monika's home country. After 5 years of relationship, Ken got to meet Monika's family and finally pop the question at Monika's family gathering, in front of all her loved ones. We are a fun loving and adventurous couple, who compliments each other in many different ways. We truly love spending time together whether it's traveling and exploring new places, going wine tasting, cheering for our favorite teams - Man Utd, Patriots, Red Sox , or trying a new dish at home and binge watching a whole season of our favorite shows on Netflix. We love doing everything together!!!

Ken still believes that Monika's family unintentionally tried to sabotage the surprise of his proposal. Upon arrival to Lithuania, Ken being a traditional man and a true gentleman, asked Monika' s older brothers for permission to marry her, since Monika's father passed away 22 years ago. Later that evening, Monika's brother told her how much he loved Ken and how much respect he had for Ken because he came to her brothers to ask permission to marry her. Ken was so upset and Monika couldn't understand why as she was rationalizing it all in her head. The next night, Ken proposed, just minutes before the proposal Ken showed the ring to Monika 's mother. She could not hold her excitement when she ran outside with a plate of food and announced in front of everyone that Ken had a ring! Monika jumped from her chair to assure her mom that Ken doesn't have a ring as she was thinking her mom probably expects Ken to propose on the trip since we have been dating for almost 5 years! Even after all this, Monika had no idea what was about to come. Just minutes later Ken came with a ring and asked her to marry him in front of all her family! It was a very special, and extraordinary moment that we will cherish and remember for years to come. It was so thoughtful and sweet of Ken to propose that way , as we got to share the excitement of being engaged with all Monika's loved ones and have them be a part of it!
