This event is a pre-wedding celebration. You can think of it as a Punjabi take on the rehearsal dinner but with more dancing. A lot more dancing. Jaggo ("wake up") is a lively Punjabi celebration filled with music, dancing, and energy. Traditionally, family members carry decorated pots with candles while singing and dancing to “wake up” the neighborhood and announce that a wedding is happening. In modern weddings, it’s basically a joyful, high-energy party with lots of color, movement, and fun. Participation is totally optional, but highly encouraged if you’re feeling it.
