What do single people do when dating traditionally isn’t working and the world is entering a pandemic? Jump on dating apps of course. Like many other couples, that’s how our love story started. On Bumble. Matching online in late March 2020, Monica started with an introduction and some direct questions. Weston was up for the challenge and some extensive back and forth ensued. Bumble chat turned into texting, which turned into phone calls and eventually two to three hour Facetimes. Every. Single. Night. When we met in-person two weeks later, it was as if we had known each other for much longer. Our first date was at Mirror Lake State Park which included a long walk, engaging conversations, and of course a good bottle of wine. He ended the date by surprising her with flowers which she kept to this day. We were both smitten. We often joked that dating during a pandemic felt like we had been dating twice as long as we actually had been. When you can’t go anywhere, you’re able to focus more on your partner and really get to know them. Cooking together, playing games, serious or funny conversations, and walks. Lots of walks. We realized how much we have in common, how our past helped shape us, our love for family, friends, travel and food, and our hope to find that special someone to change our lives forever. We fell for each other by early summer. There have been so many “firsts” along the way, and we are excited to continue adding to that list and making memories for the rest of our lives together. As Monica always said, “Amongst all this craziness, we found each other.”
