Monica: The night we met… is honestly a little blurry. Richie: In my defense, Jacob and Jill throw a great wedding. Monica: I kept noticing this guy dancing like he was on fast forward. That was Richie, full of energy and clearly into me from the beginning. Richie: Monica was wearing a purple dress, and I was definitely into her from the beginning. I introduced myself at dinner, but I don’t think I made much of an impression because she sort of shrugged me off. After dancing/wrestling with my friends on the dance floor for the next few hours, I took a break to "get some air," aka look for Monica and found her heading upstairs to change into her party outfit, a black dress with gold flowers. I reintroduced myself and made a better impression this time... five minutes later I walked with her back into the party room and introduced her to my parents. Monica: And maybe ten minutes after that, I was inviting him to Oaxaca for Día de los Muertos. (It was less than a month away.) Richie: The next morning, I asked if she wanted to get a cheesesteak. You know, something casual. Monica: I thought a Philly cheesesteak was a fancy steak with cheese melted on top… so I showed up way too dressed up. Richie: We went to Ishkabibble’s, probably the worst cheesesteak I have ever had. But I knew I could sit there at that table for the rest of my life. Narrator (a.k.a. both of us): A few weeks later, Richie flew to Oaxaca and we spent a week there, falling in love in our own way. The first party we went to together? It is the same place where we will be celebrating our wedding. We hope you will come celebrate with us and be part of this next chapter.
