Ghanian Traditional or Formal Attire. If you do not have traditional Ghanaian wear, a formal evening dress or a suit and tie is perfectly appropriate.
The Knocking Ceremony, Kɔkɔɔkɔ (Akan for "knock, knock, knock"), is a formal yet warm tradition from the Asante (Akan) people of Ghana, marking the official union of two families. It begins with the groom's family politely announcing their presence and intention to marry, asking the bride's family for permission to proceed. The groom’s family presents gifts as a demonstration of respect and capability. The bride’s family, as gracious hosts, grants their official blessing. The ceremony features witty banter, prayers, and heartfelt speeches. It's a beautiful, joyful way to start a new chapter. What You Will See: Expect a truly vibrant, elegant, and colorful experience! The families often wear magnificent traditional textiles like Kente cloth—a hand-woven fabric whose patterns and colors tell a story. This ceremony is all about respect, family bonds, and the beautiful fusion of two lineages. We are excited to share it with you.

A Coptic Orthodox wedding is more than a ceremony; it’s a sacred sacrament known as the Crowning. It marks the union of the bride, groom, and God, reflecting the deep bond between Christ and the Church. During the service, the priest places crowns on the couple, signifying their new roles as the king and queen of their new home. You’ll also see the exchange of rings, the anointing with holy oil, and the couple dressed in special ceremonial robes. We’re excited to share these meaningful traditions with you as we begin our new chapter together!
