When Nate was away at A school for the Navy, he asked Monica to marry him when he came home from training, while they were on the phone one night. Monica accepted his proposal and 1 month later they were married during a civil ceremony at the county recorder’s office, in downtown San Diego. Even though their wedding day was wonderful, they both have always dreamed of receiving the sacrament of marriage through the church. In 2021, Monica started to have a few issues with her wedding ring. While Nate was taking Monica's ring to get fixed, he decided that, this was the perfect time for him to begin designing a new/upgraded ring for her. After months of hiding and secrets the ring was finished, so Nate planned a date for their 11-year dating anniversary. He took Monica to where they had their first date, and before dinner he got down on one knee and "proposed" to Monica by asking her to remarry him in the church. Monica was floored by the gesture and her new custom ring. Nate told Monica, he wanted to make this the wedding that they never had. A celebration of their love for each other with all the people that they love most.
