Technology is a beautiful thing. It has created wonderful opportunities (apps) to be set up on a blind date through random algorithms. Kyle sent me the first message asking me about my favorite chocolate and little did he know that was the way to my heart. We messaged back and forth a little and he quickly asked me out on a date which included tacos and putt putt. So our official first meeting in person was our first date. We went to I Love Tacos where Kyle quickly put me at ease. He was wearing a blue shirt and jeans and I remember thinking how cute he looked and wondering who is this guy and that I really liked him. We then went to play putt putt (I had back up plans just incase but in the end they were not needed). We laughed and joked around about my horrible skills (Kyle quickly stopped keeping score and has continued to casually forget to keep my golf score ever since). It was the best first date. At the end Kyle asked me on a second date and I said yes and have been saying yes ever since.
Under the guise of a fancy date night, we prepared for dinner at a nice but familiar restaurant. There was plenty of involvement from friends and family. From roommates helping to pick outfits and spreading the word, to friends and family ready to hide and take photos, even to the server and restaurant owner making the start of the evening a success. One of Monica’s favorite activities is to go for a daily walk and luckily the weather was cooperating and rained in the morning so that a walk after dinner was now planned. She jumped at the suggestion to take a stroll in a newly suggested park outside of town. She remarked how nice the playlist was on the ride over and how beautiful the forest was as we walked the trail to our destination. We approached a nicely decorated bridge and as the realization was setting in for her, we made our way to the middle. I got down on one knee and asked the important question. Before I could even finish there was a scream of “YES” and we were engaged.
