They met at college--as all great love stories begin. Keegen was studying Theology and Monica was studying Criminal Justice. They were introduced by a mutual friend, and neither thought much of the meeting at the time. Keegen was in a relationship with someone else, and Monica was not interested in dating at all. A year after they met, Monica left school and returned to Minnesota, while Keegen remained to finish his degree. Over that time, Keegen and Monica would see each-other intermittently. Fast forward to 2023, Monica gets a job in Bismarck, and Keegen is already living in the area. As Monica assimilated back into the friend group, she and Keegen began to grow closer. They had different passions and hobbies, but shared the same passion for good books, films, and the Catholic faith. In late 2024, Monica and Keegen separately confessed that they had feelings for each-other to their close friends. After encouragement (and some firm nudging), Keegen asked Monica out in January 2025. This first date--lasting over a full day, and including deep conversations and Mass--would set the tone for the relationship. Two days later, Keegen asked Monica officially to be his girlfriend, and Monica gave an emphatic "yes!" Over the next 10 months, Keegen and Monica worked hard to lift each-other up and closer to Christ. Both very passionate about the Sacred Heart, they spend at least 15 minutes once a week in the Adoration chapel. It was there that their love for each-other grew into a lasting testament of God's infinite Grace. When Keegen asked Monica to marry him on October 11, 2025, Monica accepted joyfully. Now, as they continue in their journey to marriage, Keegen and Monica continue to love, support, and protect each-other. The couple will be living in Bismarck after they get married, with their two cats, surrounded by many friends.
