Amidst the festive chaos of a Broad Ripple Santa Bar Crawl in December of 2018, something across Old Pros Table caught 23-year-old Danny Murray’s eye: an Olaf onesie. Danny recognized this Frozen character as the Carmel girl who had played travel soccer with his Guerin classmates, while Monica remembered the nice football dude that her friends had once crushed on in high school. Although nothing progressed at that moment, they struck up a memorable conversation before Monica bounced away. A few months later in April, Danny and his friends decided to enter the esteemed downtown Indianapolis establishment known as Tin Roof. Danny immediately spotted Monica from across this bar, and they picked up where they left off. Monica decided to showcase her favorite party trick, hitting the top of Danny’s glass bottle with the bottom of her own, and ended up shattering his beer onto the floor. The bartender, unimpressed by Danny’s previous behavior and now broken glass situation, pointed at Monica and Danny and shouted, “You two – out!” Little did that bartender know the rest was history! Danny and Monica, banished to the curb, sat outside talking for hours while their friends enjoyed the live music and checked in on them. By the end of it, Danny succeeded in getting her number and waited as she went through her college graduation from Butler University. Months later and many trips downtown to visit Monica as she started her career and life after college, she said yes to being Danny’s girlfriend at where else... but the Broad Ripple Santa Bar Crawl in December of 2019.

Monica and Danny took time growing and learning in their relationship over the course of five years before making it official. The two were excited to finally book their first trip overseas together in the fall of 2024 to London, United Kingdom. Monica worked diligently on the itinerary while Danny secretly integrated a proposal into the mix. The morning of November 11th, 2024 began with a beautiful, sunny walk through the streets of London on their way to Buckingham Palace. Danny, nervous as ever, wasn't making much sense in their conversations. They stopped unexpectedly for cappuccinos and almond croissants (as his future fiancé was hungry). Between sips, Danny began checking his watch and slyly texting the local photographer he had booked to ensure everything was ready to go. Danny took charge as Monica grew increasingly curious about how he knew so much about a foreign landmark they had never been to before. The couple arrived at Buckingham Palace as planned, but unanticipated by Danny was the mutual timing with Changing of the King’s Guard... on Veteran's Day! While police officers closed the streets, Danny took an uncharacteristic mad dash across the blocked off roads and crowded streets in order to reach the designated spot he was planning to pop the question. Danny did reach his destination at St James Pond and finally went down on one knee. In front of millions of strangers and yet still just them, he asked Monica the question she was now anticipating. This special moment and immediate “yes” was captured by a hidden photographer, who continued to document the big smiles around St James Park and in front of Buckingham Palace. A weeklong celebration in London continued to celebrate a future life together, a city which will always now hold a special place in our hearts!
