Dear Family and Friends, Alejandro and I find ourselves faced with a truly difficult decision. We love all of you and want to share the happy occasion of our wedding with you. Unfortunately, given the current health crisis, we cannot bring you all together to celebrate with us on April 25th. Maintaining the health of all of our loved ones requires a social distancing that a 150 guest wedding could not accommodate. We hope to celebrate with you all when the risk of exposure to the coronavirus has ended. With much love, Monica and Alejandro
The police siren wafted across the restaurant like the freshly seared carne asada. We met at a highly rated taqueria in Watsonville. He got there very early. She planned to get there early and passed the taqueria twice before she finally found it. The parking lot was full of police cars. Alejandro briefly wondered if the person being apprehended was his date, but he remained optimistic she would arrive. Monica did finally arrive 5 minutes late and out of breath, very concerned her date was just arrested. Three stars.
It was a hot weekend in Los Gatos. Even the apartment was sweating. Alejandro suggested breakfast in Santa Cruz to get away from the heat for breakfast and a day at the beach. He woke up much earlier than usual. We were on the road before 9 (a first for us!) and eating breakfast at Linda's Seabreeze Cafe within the hour. After breakfast, we walked to the beach towards the lighthouse. Alejandro suddenly stops and drops to the ground. Monica was slightly concerned. She asked him, "Are you tying your shoe?" completely unaware of what he was doing or saying. Neither of us have any idea what he said that day at the beach, but we are both sure it was poetic and beautiful. About a minute after Alejandro presented the ring, Monica finally realized he was proposing. We returned to Los Gatos, neither wanting to spend the day at the beach after all.
