We connected through a dating app, the one with bagel 🥯 & coffee ☕ Darryn was still in NS while Monica was still studying in Uni. We chatted about everything under the sun - from dogs, documentaries, life, hobbies, and everything! Darryn only replied after 2am and each text he sent took him 45 minutes to write. Because we only communicated once a day! Out first meeting was at Buona Vista Nando's in 2019 - Monica was lost and couldn't find the way, Darryn had to fetch her. They ended up staying up until 3am, just talking and connecting. So yes, we spent 8 hours together on our first meeting.
Their dating years were full of adventures! Darryn has helped Monica to shift house 2 times, went through a full pandemic together, and saw each other at their lowest and highest moments. Wide-eyed and full of dreams, they spent many days together wandering around Marina Bay, Esplanade, Clarke Quay / Boat Quay - basically hours walking around Singapore. Finding the best spots to sit down and talk. They watched each other grow and supported one another through every step.
Darryn spent months planning for one of the most important nights in their lives. From frantically running around, sourcing for a engagement ring to secretly hiding the ring as they were living together. He found every opportunity to put the puzzle pieces together to ensure the night would go smoothly. He even spoke in broken Bahasa Indonesia to ask Monica's parents for her hand in marriage. The night of the proposal came, and everything was going according to plan except that the location Darryn planned to propose at was closed off. He had to do some quick thinking but everything went smoothly in the end.
After years of dreaming of owning a home and talking about having a pet - they are finally here! After months of house viewings, sourcing and talking to IDs and endless research about house stuff - they bought their first home together. And that was Monica's third (and final for now) house moving. Moving into the house, settling down and making it a home - they did every step together. Adopting a cat from a shelter where Monica volunteered and planning this wedding - they did it hand in hand. They will face the future together, building a life filled with love, laughter, and shared dreams
