City of Tamarindo
The city of Tamarindo is 15-30 minutes from the resort. It is a cute beach/surf town with a strip of shops and restaurants. You can chill with some mojitos at "El Be!" (a beach side bar/restaurant) or even take surf lessons at "Pedro’s Surf Shop".
Playa Conchal Golf @ The Westin Golf Resort & Spa
There are plenty of options to stay active at The Westin. There is a 18-hole golf course, tennis courts, and a fitness studio. You can even rent bikes to explore the resort.
Rincon de la Vieja National Park
This national park is located 2 hours away from The Westin. The park includes an active volcano known as "Rincón de la Vieja" and offers trails, waterfalls, geysers, hot springs, and an extensive wildlife. The resort works with a tour company called Swiss Travel that offers a great day tour to this park. It also offers other tours to the surrounding areas. Palo Verde National Park
This national park is also located 2 hours from The Westin. You can travel down the Tempisque River on a motor boat and observe the park's wetlands, bird species, and wildlife. Swiss Travel also offers a day tour to this park. http://conchaltours.swisstravelcr.com/
Playa Conchal
This stunning beach is right in front of The Westin. If you walk to the north end, the beach is made up of tiny colorful seashells that makes the water turn a beautiful shade of turquoise. Activities at Playa Conchal include: jet skiing, snorkeling, kayaking, fishing, horseback riding, and beach-side massages.
Playa Flamingo
Another beautiful beach lies a short 12 minute drive from The Westin. It has soft white sand and bright blue waters.
Sport Fishing
The choice hobby of the groom! The Swiss Travel company also offers sport fishing half and full day trips out in the Pacific Ocean. Common catches include Wahoo, Mahi-Mahi, Rooster Fish, Marlin, Dorado, Yellow Fin, and Snapper. Beers, waters, and snacks are included, as well as lunch for the full day trips.
