Some love stories begin with a grand gesture — ours started with crossed paths, small moments, and perfect timing. Jacob and I grew up in the same hometown and went to the same high school, always orbiting around each other without really knowing what the future had in store. In 2015, one of our mutual friends tried to get us talking, but we were both too shy for much to come of it. Still, there were little moments that would become sweet memories later on — Jacob driving me home from a bonfire, taking a picture together at an honors banquet, and me playing softball with his sister in high school. Even after graduation, our paths continued to overlap. We ended up attending the same college and somehow only saw each other one time the entire time we were there. It seemed like life kept giving us little glimpses of each other, but never quite the right moment. Then came 2023. One year after graduating college, I was at a Brewers game with friends when Jacob messaged me completely out of the blue. From that moment on, we haven’t stopped talking. What started as a simple message quickly turned into countless conversations, laughter, memories, and a love neither of us saw coming — even after all those years of near misses. Looking back now, it feels like our story was always unfolding in the background. We just needed the right timing for it to finally begin.
