We met at Johnston and Murphy in the Cherry Creek Mall in 2012. I was out shopping with my mom and after leaving J&M my mom said "that's the man you're going to marry." I laughed because 1) Jerry is her age 2) he was bald (and I said I would never date a bald man), and 3) I was pretty sure he was gay. Also, neither of us were single! Our paths crossed about a hundred times, and each time my mom would say that he was my husband, and each time I would roll my eyes and laugh. In 2014, he suggested I contact his youngest daughter, Alina, to help build the website for my blog. I gave him my card, and he kept it, knowing that this was going to be more than friendship. In 2016, after a rough year on my part, I needed a part time job and I knew Jerry would hire me. I started at J&M in October and we started going to the movie theater in the mall a few times a week after work. On November 18th, we went to a Turkish hookah bar and were ignored by the waiter for two hours. During that time Jerry kissed me and I knew my mom was never going to let me live it down. On September 1st, 2019 we went to my favorite restaurant near my childhood home in Minnesota. I knew he was going to propose but it still took me by surprise. He picked the perfect ring that is sustainable and subtle- it's everything I could ever want. In the past seven years we have become best friends; travelling, reading, pursuing God, moving across the country, binge watching shows, and laughing about the dumbest things. We have fallen in love with each other's families, and found a balance in our strengths and weaknesses. This life together is never boring, and we are so excited to make a lifetime of memories together.
