Like many modern love stories, ours began with a profile, a like and an intriguing response interpreted as a challenge. We initially connected over a love of sports and the “joys” of home ownership. Our first date was on a Thursday night at a place called The Brig, where we learned we had more in common than our unconventional schedules. Our second date was “just around the corner” searching for a Christmas tree and lights. Just like one of Alex’s favorite Hallmark Christmas movies, we knew it would work when a self-inflicted knife wound couldn’t ruin our first Christmas Eve dinner together.
What do zip-ties, rainy days and hand saws have in common? Everything you need to propose at a Christmas tree farm! A cold and rainy morning thankfully relented a bit allowing for Zoey to remain involved. After a careful search for the right tree, Zoey showed the ring to Alex and Brendan got on one knee. With a ring on one hand and a tree in the other, the day was not yet over. A surprise brunch completed the day even after Alex called everyone that was secretly waiting for the newly engaged couple at one of their favorite restaurants. All ended well in a happy celebration surrounded by loved ones.
