How we met

In May of 2017, after finally completing her bachelors degree, Savannah was blessed with a new job opportunity with National University. This exciting new venture took her from working in Lake Elsinore, all the way down the traffic-ridden 15 freeway to Ontario. As fate would have it, just one month later, Mike made the big exciting commitment to purchase his first home. After all of his hard work to get through probation with the fire department, he decided this was the next step. After much searching he decided to purchase a charming little two-story house in Rancho Cucamonga. The location of his new home... six miles up the very same street as Savannah's new job. Being adults with full time jobs makes dating and meeting new people a bit difficult. Without much hope, they both decided to check out a dating site. Mike and Savannah caught each other's eye very quickly. After talking for hours, every day for a week they decided to meet in person at Victoria Gardens for dinner. They connected so easily and the sparks were endless.

The proposal

On their first official date, Mike invited himself to a swing dancing event held in Balboa Beach by Savannah's friends. Savannah was nervous to have him meet so many of her close friends on their first date but she was too excited to say no. He picked her up, drove them down to the beach, and spent the entire evening dancing with her, helping out with the event, taking pictures for guests, and even cleaning up after. 8 months later, on April 22, 2018, he suggested a day trip to that same beach. What Savannah did not know was that Mike had a plan, and Matt and Kate (his brother and sister-in-law) were in on it too. Upon arrival, Mike took Savannah by the hand and casually strolled over to the place where they had their very first dance, on their first date, the year before. He asked her to slow dance to which she replied "but there's no music!" Meanwhile pictures and videos were secretly being taken by Matt and Kate who had been hiding in the bushes the entire time. Then to Savannah's surprise, Mike got down on one knee, and asked her to marry him. She said yes (three times to be exact) and then was excitedly greeted by Matt, Kate, and their adorable boys Clifford and Merritt. It was a truly special day.
