Originally I had planned to propose to Katie during a quiet weekend getaway in Aspen, Colorado to celebrate our 4 year anniversary in June. On May 6th, as were packing our last minute items before our flight to London, I was thinking of all of the nice places we were going to stay across the UK and knew that an even more special way to propose would be in our cottage in the Cotswolds at the beginning of our trip. Katie was really excited to see the English countryside and it was the part of the trip she was most looking forward to. The morning of our flight I called a jeweler and asked if it would be possible to get an engagement ring before our flight left in 4 hours. Luckily, the jeweler was able to accommodate the request and even drove the ring to our apartment with an hour to spare. On the way to the airport, through security, and even at our gate, I held my backpack with the ring in it very close to me. At one point I even brought my backpack with me to the bathroom (which rose suspicion with Katie). After spending a beautiful day in Oxford, we arrived in the Cotswolds and settled into our cottage. After a special day together, a little nervous but excited, I dropped down to one knee and asked Katie to marry me. She said yes!
