Murat: „I met Mona when she was on a lay-over in San Francisco on her way to travel to Thailand in the late summer of 2011. I instantly felt a connection to her. For me, it was love at first sight. After we briefly got to know each other, we kept in contact via e-mail. I was enchanted by her and wanted to get to know her better. To see her again, I booked her a flight to San Francisco a few months later and together we explored Los Angeles, Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon. Just after starting our journey, I asked Mona if she would marry me, after having only spent five days with her in person. We began to be a couple during this vacation and as you already know – now, 10 years later – what I knew would happen right away is becoming reality. If you ask me, when true love finds you, you feel it right away. That is how it was for me.”
Mona: “Murat asked me to marry him (the second time) on February 22, 2020. His voice was shaking and he was nervous when asking me to be his wife, which surprised me because at that time it was pretty obvious that we would be getting engaged soon – we picked out our rings together three days previously. He reminded me that he already knew we belonged together at the very beginning when we first met. It was pitch-black at the beach in Alameda where Murat proposed to me that chilly Saturday evening. I sensed that he got on one knee while asking me, but I’ll never know for sure because I could not see anything. ;-) It was a very special moment, of course, one that I will never forget. I am happy to have found such a wonderful companion in Murat. I cannot imagine life without him, I can’t wait to have our first child together, to be a family, to grow old together and keep enjoying our love story just like we have been.“
